2018: The Year in Photos

Photographs, Travel

There were a lot of great moments I had in 2018. I explored many places with friends and family in Canada and the Philippines. The challenges approached me but I have already faced them – survival, leadership, travel, and communication (especially hearing people) skills.

I mentioned I discovered my own styles of photography in 2017. I decided to turn cinematic photos into “unforgettable” photos. So I posted these photos which were only taken with Canon EOS 6D. You can check another blog post with different kinds of cameras.

The Cinematic Photographs of 2017

Photographs

It’s time to say goodbye to 2017. I can’t believe how much I spent time in the year. So, there is something different I found out since I got new toys — camera, phone, and lens. My new skill has been discovered. I recently notice that I produced photos which seemingly comes from films. I capture what I see while I am on the run. I don’t actually check the pictures after. See a good scene unexpectedly, pick up my phone, open the camera, shoot, turn off the screen and put the phone in my pocket. That’s all. It’s a miracle.

The Best Portrait Shots of 2016

Photographs

2016 has been an amazing year. Since my working hours was modified, what I did in my free time is to explore more places, which improves my creativity. I created a team with buddies who like photography. We assisted each other with camera equipment and improved the photographs by trying to learn various techniques.

Look at Portrait 2015, the photographs of 2016 are big improvements! I can’t believe how much I learned. I was frustrated with my DSLR camera at times because of ISO settings. It’s not good enough for the low light. However, the camera has been successfully upgraded in the end of the year. I can shoot in low light situations. I’m happy with that!

Here are my favourite portrait shots from 2016.

The Film Photographs of 2016

Photographs

In 2016, I have been shooting digital over film all the way. My film camera, Nikon EM on a drawer caught my eyes. I realized I had two rolls of 100 ISO, which will be expired more than a year. I decided to let my best friend, Carlo learn how to open the film camera and put the roll in it without the instruction. He couldn’t figure out until I gave him some hints. He finally did it! haha!

Therefore, the roll began. I found it difficult to carry the film camera with me everyday because the photos with both of film and digital cameras are similar. I kept forgetting to grab the film camera before it got dark. It doesn’t have a built-in flash. I tried my best to capture the perfect pictures in good time.

Here are all of the developed photos. I opted out a few underexposed ones.

The Best Portraits of 2015

Photographs

At the beginning of 2015 I decided that my Instagram account was switched from personal to photography photos. I am actually not a professional photographer. Taking photos is only one of my favourite hobbies. Although I am a graphic designer and illustrator, the concepts I come up with turn into the real photographs. I usually take photos of my friends I am comfortable with. I’m rarely called to take photos for others. I don’t mind to volunteer, but sometimes I don’t accept. I’d love to face the hard challenges which they pick their favourite places and I have to tell what they would pose. So, I can’t wait to see how the photographs would get better in 2016.

The best portraits have been selected.
